ST MARY'S HOSPITAL VOLUNTEER PROGRAMME

Make a difference – your community needs you!

St Mary's Catholic Mission Hospital is in the forefront of the fight against AIDS. Based at Mariannhill, just 15 minutes from central Durban, we serve a community of about 730 000 people and see about 12 000 patients a month. Three-quarters are women and children, and almost all come from poor, historically disadvantaged communities.

The volunteer programme
We have recently set up a special volunteer programme and urgently need people to join us in our rewarding work. Our service is about human wellbeing in all its aspects, and not just medical care, so whatever your interests, knowledge and experience, and however much or little time you have to spare, we have a place for you. These are just some of the things you could do:

Nursing community outreach
General administration
Gardens
Medical (GPs & Specialists)
Library Translation services
Physiotherapy
Feeding and playing with children
Fundraising
Counselling of patients/staff
Sewing
General maintenance/handiwork
Porter
Radiology
Occupational Therapy
